Many kids feel that they need to have a cell phone to fit in. About 5 out of 10 kids under 15 have a cell phone. Most kids feel that they should have a cell phone, that way the can always be reachable. They also look at cell phones as social devices. Texting is a must for most kids that want a cell phone.
Cell phones are nice for kids, that way they can always be reached in a serious time. If some kind of emergency happened, the kid could call his his or her parent or 911 to notify them. Some cell phones can be programmed by the adult, to control what numbers the child can call. A firefly for example, is perfect for younger children, because there is 4 available numbers for the child to call.
Cell phones have a bad driving affect for teenagers. Some auto-insurance companies have raised car insurance for teens, because cell phones make them more likely to get into an accident. Cell phones can also give the teen, a social life. They can feel more accepted if they have a cell phone like everyone else.

I agree that kids should have cell phones. I think it helps in many ways for parents to see where there kids are and it is an easier way for kids to get a hold of people. Nice job on your article.
I can see that there are many positive and negatives about a kid having a cell phone! I think the number one reason for a kid to get a cell phone should be for emergancy, not to fit in. Good job with your blog(:
As most of you know i work at wal-mart, and when i was working today i saw something that almost made my jaw drop.While inside i saw a mother on the phone and what appeared to be a 10 year old with two different phones. It bothers me i didn't get one till high school, but it seems day after day kids are egtting cell phones as sson as they hit middle school. Personally i think this is only going to cause more problems rather than fix them.
i think kids can have cell phones, but i knew this girl at gymnastics and she was only 6 years old and her parents got her a phone. and it was a nice phone too! i don't think thats right. they're too young.
I think that a lot of kids get cell phones when they are too young, and they dont know how to responsibly use them. The only reason a young kid should have a cell phone is for an emergency.
parents that give their kids cell phones are weak, they are just giving in to their child needs. They should wait till at least 7th grade to give them a cell phone. By the term give i mean make them help pay for the social device. I would let them work at walmart though, sorry josh
